Message from the VP

Welcome to Hanyang University’s Office of International Affairs(OIA)! Since its launching, OIA has been responsible for our ever-increasing number of international students, providing “A to Z” one-stop services, enabling our students to enjoy a balanced college life and conducive study environment in the best ways possible.

Every year, HYU hosts over 6,000 international students who attend our courses for our degree seeking programs, Student Exchange Program, Visiting Student Program, International Summer Schools, ERICA Winter School, and various foreign language programs. In fact, in the area of degree-seeking, every year Hanyang admits over 1,000 new international students and graduates approximately 300 international students.

With about 700 official partnerships with other higher education institutions around the world, OIA currently has 30 staff members available to provide various types of assistance and services. In addition, we currently offer services in English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Dutch.

Moreover, to comfortably accommodate our international students, some of whom may be studying, living, and/or even traveling abroad for the first time, Hanyang is very responsive and receptive to their needs and concerns. For example, in terms of facilities and resources available, HYU operates the Global Information Center and provides various facilities in consideration of different cultures and religions.

As a result of our progressive efforts, the QS Asia University Rankings of 2014 recognized Hanyang as being 1st for “Internationalization” while the Times World University Rankings of 2014-2015 also ranked HYU 1st for “International Outlook.”

With consistent and constant growth of our international student population, OIA is always seeking ways to better serve and improve. Following Hanyang University’s founding philosophy of “Love in Deed and in Truth,” we will continue to work towards constructing more international bridges, linking our students together.

Thank you!

Ki-Jeong Lee, Ph.D.

Vice President for International Affairs
